Being able to feel safe and secure in class is an important part in learning. Below are guidelines set in place in order to achieve a high level of safety in our gym.
- Students need to have on activity clothing. We are upside down, right side up, rolling, stretching, etc. on any given day. Clothing that allows unrestricted movement helps children to participate fully in activity.
- Students need to have a pair of safe tennis shoes to be left on the shelf in their cubby for physical education class. All gym shoes have plastic ribbons tied to them, if you see a pair of shoes come home with ribbons on them please send them back to school the next day. If a student forgets their gym shoes at home they can borrow a pair from me provided they have on socks. They can borrow for 2 consecutive days but will need to have their gym shoes back at school by the third P.E. class in a row. If for any reason you can't purchase a pair of p.e. shoes for your child please let me know. I will look through our collection and your child can borrow from me for an extended period of time.
- Jewelry can cause safety issues in any activity setting. I ask students to take off necklaces, watches, bracelets and hoop or dangly earrings. You can help your child be safe by reminding them to leave jewelry at home on the days they have physical education.
